SCRANTON, PA - The Johns Hopkins volleyball team captured the University of Scranton Tournament with a pair of victories on Saturday. Hopkins defeated Mt. Aloysius 3-0 and then downed the host, Scranton 3-0. The Blue Jays (11-2) had senior Natalia Fijalkowski (Windsor, CA/Windsor) and junior Amanda Lewis (San Antonio, TX/St. Mary's Hall) named to the all-tournament team for their efforts over the weekend.

Hopkins defeated Mt. Aloysius in its first match of the day. It was the second time this season the Blue Jays had topped Mt. Aloysius. Hopkins took game one by a 30-20 score and games two and three by scores of 30-22 and 30-14.Fijalkowski posted a double-double in the first match with 14 kills and 12 digs.Lewis dished out 39 helpers in the contest while Allison Cappelaere (Ellicott City, MD/Centennial) just missed a double-double with 10 kills and nine digs.

Against Scranton, Hopkins once again jumped out to the early lead taking game one by a score of 30-18. The Blue Jays then secured the victory with wins of 30-22 and 30-22. In that match, Lewis just missed a double-double with 44 assists and eight digs. Junior Kim Jackanich (Pacifica, CA/ St. Ignatius College Prep) posted a double-double with 12 kills and 14 digs while Cappelaere also had a double-double with 17 kills and 10 digs. Fijalkowski had 11 digs in the contest.

Hopkins is back in action on Wednesday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. The Blue Jays kick off their Centennial Conference schedule by hosting Muhlenberg.
