HAVERFORD, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team finished fourth at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championship this weekend. The Blue Jays recorded their best outdoor conference finish with the fourth place showing and 113.5 points. The championship was won by Haverford who finished with 177 points while Muhlenberg finished second with 127.5 points.

Senior Giselle Joseph had a strong showing for the Blue Jays on the weekend. Joseph captured the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.61. She also placed first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.72, breaking the school record in that event. Joseph earned All-Centennial honors for her performance in those two events. Joseph paired with Jordan Ireton, Paula Osborn and Jessica Reeves to break the school record in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.05, capturing that event. Those four athletes also earn All-Centennial honors for their performance.

Joseph, Ireton, Viann Nguyen and Mary O'Grady broke the 4x400 relay school record with a time of 4:07.55, finishing fourth in the event. Kathy Horn took down the school record in the heptathlon as she finished with 3,396 points. She finished fourth in that event while posting personal bests in six out of the seven events. Freshman Mary O'Grady posted a time of 12:08.39 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase to break the school and freshman record in that event. O'Grady finished sixth in that event. The Blue Jays saw another school record fall in the 4x800 relay as Rachel Hogen, Mira Patel, O'Grady and Laura Paulsen ran a 9:51.60 and finished second.
 

 

Junior Chantel Priolo finished third in the javelin with a throw of 34.01m and fourth in the discus with a toss of 34.29m. Reeves had a solid weekend for the Blue Jays as she was part of the 4x100 relay team and finished third in the pole vault (2.75m), fourth in the high jump (1.47m) and sixth in the 100-meter dash (13.27). Amarichi Onyima was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.19m.

Hopkins returns to action on May 14th at the Jim Tuppney Invitational hosted by Villanova Invitational.
