Hopkins Finishes Second at Centennial Conference Indoor Championships

HAVERFORD, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's track and field team finished second as the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships concluded with day two's action on Sunday. The Blue Jays recorded 98 points for their highest ever finish at the championships. The meet was won by Haverford which finished with 178 points while Muhlenberg rounded out the top three, finishing with 97.5 points.
Amarichi Onyima captured the shot put for the Blue Jays with a throw in the finals of 12.48m. Onyima set a new school record and qualified for the ECAC Championships with her throw. Giselle Joseph crossed the line with a time of 7.57 in the 55-meter dash to capture top honors. The 4x800 meter relay team of Mary O'Grady, Mira Patel, Rachel Hogen and Laura Paulsen won their event with a time of 9:47.66. The relay team's time was an ECAC
Joseph continued her strong showing on the day with a third place finish in the 200-meter dash. She crossed the line with a time of 27.02. Jordan Ireton finished sixth in both the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash. In the 200m dash, she posted a time of 27.47 and in the 400m dash her time was 1:01.61. Paulsen finished sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:25.07.
The 4x400 relay team of Joseph, Viann Nguyen, Paula Osborn and Ireton finished second in their race with a time of 4:11.28. The 4x400 relay team ran a new school record and helped Hopkins clinch its second place finish.
Hopkins returns to action on March 3rd and 4th at the ECAC Championships.
