The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team dropped its fall opener to Loyola, 7-2, Wednesday afternoon.
Junior Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) posted a 2-6, 6-4 (10-7) comeback win over Carolyn Pilkington at No. 1 singles, while freshman Becky Busch (Winnetka, IL/New Trier Township) defeated Caitlin LaRocco 7-6, 6-2 at No. 6. Kaitlin Russo defeated sophomore Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 while Gina Turturiello topped freshman Priya Puri (Wayzata, MN/The Blake School) 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 for Loyola. Amy Nitch posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory over senior Cara Loeys (Surrey, England/American Community School) 6-0, 6-3, and Claire Najour defeated sophomore Pauline Pelletier (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5.
The Greyhounds took all three doubles points, as Pilkington and Russo defeated Loeys and Liang 8-1 at No. 1. Turturiello and Najour topped Leese and Puri 8-3 at No. 2, and Nitch and Stefani Clay defeated Busch and senior Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) 8-3 at No. 3.
