Baltimore, MD - Franklin & Marshall won four of six singles matches and all three doubles matches to defeat Johns Hopkins, 7-2, in women's tennis action Friday afternoon.

Senior Emily Petersen (Cedar Rapids, IA/Linn-Mar) defeated Jen Dubow 6-4, 6-4 in No. 1 singles, and sophomore Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) topped Bz Kirkbright 6-1, 7-5 in No. 5 singles to account for the Blue Jays' two points.

Marie Papalia defeated sophomore Lauren Shevchik (Murrysville, PAGreensburg Central) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, while Alissa Leone bested sophomore Cara Loeys (Cobham Surrey, England/American Community School) 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles for the Diplomats. Other F&M singles winners were Abby Rudolph, who defeated freshman Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) 2-6, 6-2 (10-6) at No. 4, and Beth Connor, who topped sophomore Whitney Austin (Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) 6-1, 6-0 at No. 6.

Tara Clarke and Dubow needed a tiebreaker to beat Peterson and Shevchik 9-8 (2) at No. 1 doubles, Rudolph and Leone defeated Loeys and Crowe 8-2 at No. 2, and Conner and Papalia topped Liang and Austin 9-7 at No. 3.
