Lancaster, PA - The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team won four singles matches and two doubles matches to defeat Franklin & Marshall, 6-3, Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Jays, who snapped a 17-match losing streak to the Diplomats, won their third straight to improve to 3-3 overall and 3-0 in the Centennial Conference. Franklin & Marshall fell to 3-5 overall and 0-1 in league play.

Junior Cara Loeys (Oxshott Surrey, England/American Community School) defeated Abby Rudolph 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles, while freshman Amanda Leese (Amherst, NH/Bishop Guertin) needed three sets to outlast Beth Conner 7-6 (4), 4-6, 6-2 at No. 4. Junior Liz Crowe (Wilmington, DE/Alexis I. duPont) shut out BZ Kirkbright 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5, and freshman Pauline Pelletier (Arlington, TX/MB Lamar) posted a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 comeback win over Tara Clarke at No. 6.

Jenny Dubow came back to defeat sophomore Vandna Jerath (Augusta, GA/Augusta Prep) 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Alissa Leone topped sophomore Michelle Liang (Rochester, NY/Brighton) 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 to earn the Diplomats' two singles points.

Loeys and Liang defeated Clarke and Dubow 8-6 at No. 1 while Crowe and Leese outlasted Conner and Kirkbright 9-7 at No. 3, as Hopkins won two doubles points. Rudolph and Leone topped Jerath and freshman Jill Seidman (Arlington Heights, IL/Buffalo Grove) 8-1 at No. 2 for the Diplomats.

The Blue Jays return to action Thursday when Hopkins hosts Washington College at 3:30 p.m.
