BALTIMORE, MD - In their first home match of the spring, the Johns Hopkins women's tennis team (3-1) won their third straight with a 7-2 win over Salisbury.

The Blue Jays won two of three doubles matches to take an early 2-1 lead heading into singles play. Sophomore Stephanie Carr and junior Becky Busch defeated Anna Marie Kable and Sammie Smiles 8-6 at the #2 position. It was the second straight win for the duo. At the #3 spot, junior Priya Puri and senior Jill Seidman won their second straight, 8-5 over Missy Wallace and Robyn Wendell.

In singles play, sophomore Tanya Gulnick rebounded from her loss at #1 doubles, with a 6-3, 6-0 win at the #1 singles spot over Erika Mitry. Busch won 6-4, 6-3 over Kable, moving to 1-1 at #3. Seidman battled Smiles to a 6-4, 6-4 win at the #4 spot. Sophomore Mary Gorski also had a battle, winning 7-5, 7-5 over Wendell at the #5 spot. And in the #6 spot, freshman Debbie Blass won her second straight, defeating Wallace 6-1, 6-4. Puri suffered the only loss in singles for the Jays, falling 7-5, 6-1 at the #2 spot to Jenny Rosler.

Hopkins returns to action on Wednesday, March 15 at Goucher. The match is set for 3:00 p.m.
