BALTIMORE, MD - Three Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse players were named to the 2006 IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region Team Thursday. Junior Mary Key (Stevensville, MD/St. Mary's) and sophomore Kadie Stamper (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) were named to the first team and sophomore Sarah Gallion (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) earned second team honors. The 2006 IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-America teams will be announced on May 30.

Key, a 2005 IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American, led the Blue Jays and the NCAA in scoring for the second consecutive season. This season she tallied 101 points (6.31 points per game) on 60 goals and 41 assists, all Hopkins' Division I single-season records. Her 101 points is a school all-time record, besting the previous mark of 99 set in 1995 by Jenn Ward. She also broke the Hopkins' Division I career assists (95) and points (262) records. She ranked third in the NCAA and second in the ALC in assists per game (2.56).

Stamper, a 2006 ALC First Team honoree and 2005 Inside Lacrosse All-American, had another solid season in the midfield for the Blue Jays. She ranked tied for third on the team with 32 points (26g, 3a). She led the team in ground balls (45), draw controls (54) and caused turnovers (14). She ranked 11th in the NCAA and second in the ALC in draw controls per game (3.38). Her 54 draw controls this season are the fourth most in school D-I history. She is also just the second player in Hopkins D-I history to record more than 100 career draws.

Gallion is the Blue Jays' top defender and usually draws their opponents' top attacker. She also earned ALC Second Team honors this season. Gallion started 15 of 16 games on defense, picking up 28 ground balls, causing eight turnovers and controlling five draws. She scored her first career goal earlier this season, in Hopkins' win over Oregon in Honolulu. She also picked up an assist in the Jays' win over #17 Vanderbilt.
