BALTIMORE, MD - Four members of the Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team were named to the IWLCA Mid-Atlantic Region Team Thursday. Senior Mary Key (Stevensville, MD/St. Mary's) earned First Team honors, while senior Cherie Michaud (Monkton, MD/Maryvale Prep) and juniors Lauren Schwarzmann (Sykesville, MD/Century) and Kadie Stamper (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) were named to the Second Team. This is the most honorees in one season for the Blue Jays since 1997.
Key, a four-time all-region selection, finished the 2007 season as the nation's leading scorer with 121 points. A two-time IWLCA All-American, she rewrote the Hopkins record book finishing her career with 24 school records. A finalist for both the Tewaaraton Trophy and the Honda Sports Award, Key ranks third in NCAA history with 383 career points and second with 149 career assists.
Michaud earned all-region honors for the first time in her career. A standout on defense in her four seasons for the Blue Jays, she led the team in ground balls (47) and was fourth in caused turnovers (11). Michaud was honored by her teammates with the defensive player of the year and Bob Scott Blue Jays awards. She finished her career ranked in the top-20 in JHU Division I history in ground balls (95), draw controls (30), caused turnovers (36), games played (57) and games started (46).
Schwarzmann is also earning all-region honors for the first time. A three-time All-ALC selection, she set career highs in goals (30), points (40), draw controls (36) in 2007. This season she was tied for second in goals on the team and third in points, assists and draws. In Hopkins DI career history, she ranks seventh in assists (31), eighth in draws (65), 10th in points (88), 11th in goals (57), 19th in caused turnovers (28) and 20th in ground balls (88).

This is the second straight season that Stamper has earned all-region honors. She finished the season ranked fifth in points (31) and goals (26) on the team. She led the Blue Jays in draw controls (58) and caused turnovers (22) and was third in ground balls (34). Stamper, a two-time All-ALC selection, ranks second all-time in school history with 168, just 34 shy of tying the school record. In addition, her 58 draws this season are the third most in a single-season in JHU history. In Hopkins DI history, Stamper ranks eighth in caused turnovers (56), 10th in goals (71), 11th in points (85) and ground balls (122) and 14th in assists (14).
Hopkins tied a school-record with 12 wins this season, advancing to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen and posting a 12-8 record. The Blue Jays finished the season strong, winning six of their final nine games. Hopkins loses seven seniors to graduation this season, but return four of the top-six scorers in 2008.
