Baltimore, MD -
The Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team will host Harvard University in the 2002 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship, the conference announced Tuesday. The Blue Jays and Crimson will battle Sunday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at Homewood Field.
Hopkins will make its third straight ECAC appearance. The Blue Jays defeated Connecticut, 14-10, in the 2000 semifinals before falling to host Cornell, 16-4, in the championship. Last season Hopkins defeated Pennsylvania, 18-12, in the final in Baltimore.
The Blue Jays finished their regular season 10-7 and ranked No. 18 in the final Brine/IWLCA Poll. Harvard finished with an 8-7 mark and qualified for the championship by defeating Brown, 11-10 in overtime, in its last regular season game.
Hopkins is led by senior attacker Jamie Larrimore (Chestertown, MD/Kent County), who has scored 46 goals and 63 points this season and needs just one goal to move into second place on the school career goals list. Sophomore midfielder Heidi Pearce (Chestertown, MD/St. Andrew's) has scored 46 goals and 10 assists for 56 points, while senior attacker Erin Wellner (East Williston, NY/Sacred Heart Academy) has added 26 goals and a team-high 29 assists for the Blue Jays.
