The Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team jumped three spots to the No. 16 position in this week's Brine/IWLCA Poll released Monday.
The Blue Jays went 3-0 last week to improve to 10-4 this season. Hopkins won at American, 15-10, on Wednesday before defeating George Washington, 15-4, Friday. Hopkins then topped then-No. 14 North Carolina, 12-2, Sunday in its final home game of the season.
Junior midfielder Heidi Pearce (Chestertown, MD/St. Andrew's) led the Blue Jays to the win over the Tar Heels with four goals and two assists, while senior midfielder Erinn Dennis (Wilton, NY/Saratoga Springs) scored a team-high eight goals in the week. Junior midfielder Kate Barcomb (Middlebury, VT/Middlebury) and senior attacker Meghan Burnett (Auburn, NY/Auburn) each added six goals and three assists during the week as Hopkins extended its winning streak to four games.
Loyola received all seven first-place votes and remained in the poll's top spot, followed by Maryland, Virginia, Duke, and Georgetown. Princeton, James Madison, Dartmouth, Yale, and Ohio State rounded out the top 10.
The Blue Jays close out their regular season this week, traveling to Towson Wednesday at 3 p.m. and George Mason Saturday at 1 p.m.
