Feb. 16, 2007

BALTIMORE, MD - Senior Mary Key (Stevensville, MD/St. Mary's) and junior Kadie Stamper (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) were named preseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse this week. Key earned a first team nod, while Stamper was named to the second team. Key and Stamper are Hopkins only two returning All-Americans this season.

Key, a two-time All-American, has led the nation in scoring the past two seasons and is Hopkins career points leader in the school's Division I history. She is just 28 points shy of tying Jenn Ward's all-time record of 290 career points. Key has also been named one of Inside Lacrosse's Fab Five Tewaaraton Picks for 2007. She led Hopkins with single-season records of 60 goals, 41 assists and 101 points.

Stamper, who earned All-America honors in each of her first two seasons, returns as the Blue Jays center draw specialist. She ranked second in the ALC and 11th in the nation in draw controls per game. Stamper is just the fourth player in Hopkins history with more than 100 career draw controls. She led the team in ground balls and draw controls and finished tied for third on the team with 32 points (26 goals, six assists).

The Johns Hopkins women's lacrosse team opens the 2007 campaign on Wednesday, February 21 against George Washington. The opening draw at Homewood Field is set for 5:00 pm.
