Feb. 3, 2005

BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins sophomore Mary Key (Stevensville, MD/St. Mary's) has been named a preseason first-team All-American and senior Lacey-Leigh Hentz (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll) was selected to the second team, as announced by Inside Lacrosse magazine. Inside Lacrosse also released its preseason poll, where Hopkins earned the No. 7 spot.

Key led the Blue Jays with 52 goals, 22 assists and 74 points, setting the school Division I record for points in a season. Hentz, a 2005 co-captain, has started at defense every year at Hopkins and is a three-time all-conference pick in the competitive American Lacrosse Conference. Key and Hentz earned second-team and third-team honors respectively at the end of the 2004 season.

Defending champion Virginia earned the top spot in the preseason poll followed by Princeton, the 2004 runner-up. Northwestern, Duke, Georgetown and North Carolina were also ranked ahead of Hopkins.

The All-American list and preseason rankings are compiled by Inside Lacrosse magazine. Published 11 times annually in Towson, Md., Inside Lacrosse is the leading publication on the sport of lacrosse, with subscribers in all 50 states and eight foreign countries. The All-America lists, along with team profiles, player profiles and season previews, will be available in the women's preview issue of Inside Lacrosse, which will hit newsstands in early February.
