CARLISLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins track and field teams had four athletes compete at the Dickinson College Multi-Event meet on Monday and Tuesday. The men's team had three athletes compete in the decathlon while the women's team had one participant in the heptathlon.

Senior Jason Dubyoski set a new school record in the decathlon by accumulating 5,140 points during the two-day event. He got things off to a good start with a second place finish in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.48. Dubyoski finished third in the long jump and third in the 400-meter dash to highlight a day one performance that left him with 2,841 points. On day two he had a 16.68 in the 110 hurdles, 23.50 in the discus, 2.75m in the pole vault, 41.21m in the javelin and 5:02.60 in the 1,500m to finish with 5,140 points for the two day event.

Devin McDermott finished eighth in the decathlon with 4,220 points. He finished fifth in the long jump and shot put, recording a 5.75m and 9.94m respectively. On day two, McDermott was third in the discus with a throw of 30.49m and fifth in the javelin throw. Michael Palantoni was the other Blue Jay competing in the decathlon as he finished 12th with 3,886 points. Palantoni got the meet off to a good start as he finished second in the shot put with a throw of 10.21m on day one and tied for first in the high jump with a leap of 1.83m. On day two, he was second in the discus at 30.99m.

Kathy Horn competed in the heptathlon for the Blue Jay women on Monday and Tuesday. Horn finished seventh with 2,873 points for the event. She tied for fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.35m and fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 29.00. Horn was fourth in the 800-meter run at 2:37.49.
 

 

Hopkins returns to action on April 14th at the Messiah Invitational.
