BALTIMORE, MD - Freshman David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho Senior) became the first men's tennis player from Johns Hopkins to earn All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association this week. In addition, he was ranked #18 in the nation and fifth in the Atlantic South region by the ITA.

Maldow was an integral part of Hopkins success this season on the court. He earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors and posted an 18-6 singles record. His 18 singles wins are a school single-season record. He also won 15 doubles matches in 2007, ranking him tied for fourth in school single-season history. Maldow played seven ranked opponents this season, going 6-1 in those matches. In addition, 16 of his 18 wins came in straight sets.

Maldow helped Hopkins to its second Centennial Conference Championship in three seasons. The Blue Jays then earned their second straight appearance in the NCAA Championship. Hopkins advanced to the Sweet Sixteen before falling to #7 Trinity (TX). The Blue Jays finished the season with a 19-3 record and had won 15 straight matches prior to the loss to Trinity.
