ST. LOUIS, MO - Johns Hopkins men's tennis freshman David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho Senior) ended his season in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Individual Tennis Championships. He finished his season with a school-record 18 wins.

Maldow, ranked fifth in the Atlantic South by the ITA, lost a three-set match to Payum Payman of Wheaton (MA) in the round of 32 Friday morning. Maldow won the first set 7-5, but lost 6-4, 6-3 in the second and third sets. Maldow was also recently named the 2007 Rookie of the Year in the Atlantic South region by the ITA. He earned First Team All-Centennial honors and posted an 18-6 record, including a 6-1 mark in the Centennial Conference.

He is the first individual under head coach Chuck Willenborg to be selected for the individual tournament.
