BALTIMORE, MD - Freshman David Maldow (Jericho, NY/Jericho Senior) was selected for the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Individual Championships Monday. Ranked fifth in the Atlantic South region by the ITA, Maldow brings an 18-5 record into the championships. The championships are set for May 18-20 at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

Maldow was an integral part of the most successful season in Johns Hopkins men's tennis history in 2007. The Blue Jays won their second Centennial Conference Championship in three seasons, going 8-0 in conference matches. Hopkins went to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season and advanced to the third round before falling to #7 Trinity (TX). The Blue Jays finished the season with a 19-3 record and had won 15 straight matches prior to the loss to Trinity.

Maldow earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors in 2007 and his 18 singles win are a school single-season record. He also won 15 doubles matches this season, ranking him tied for fourth in school single-season history. Maldow went 6-1 against ranked opponents this season. Sixteen of his 18 wins this season in singles came in straight sets. He is 2-2 in three-set matches.
