BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team (6-2, 2-0 CC) handed Washington College its first-ever Centennial Conference loss, defeating the Shoremen 4-3 on Friday afternoon. Washington (3-6, 2-1 CC) came into the match 90-0 all-time in Centennial play and had won 122 consecutive conference matches in a streak dating back to 1985.

The Shoremen, who were without senior captain and No. 2 singles player Asfand Farouk, captured the doubles point to take a 1-0 lead in the match. Washington won at first and second doubles, while Rafael Roberti and Michael Kelly-Sell captured Hopkins' only doubles victory, 8-1 at the third spot.

The Blue Jays took four of six points at singles, as Kevin Ma defeated Tim Riskie 6-1, 6-3 at second, Justin Belisario won 6-3, 6-1 at fifth, and Justin Lee won 6-0, 6-0 at sixth singles.

Washington's two points came at No. 1 and No. 4 singles. Arturo Solis was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Hopkins' Chanont Vasoontara at No. 1, while Maciek Prytula recorded a 6-3, 6-2 win over Matthew Naftilan at No. 4. Hopkins won the match when Roberti defeated Mike Edison 6-1, 1-6, 7-6(5) at No. 3 singles.

Washington's last conference loss was a 6-3 Middle Atlantic Conference loss to Haverford in 1985.
