BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins senior Tyler Harris (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster) has been named to the 2006 ESPN the Magazine District II Academic At-Large All-District First Team. To be eligible, a student-athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Harris had an outstanding senior season in the Johns Hopkins Men's Swimming Team. He broke the school record in the 100 Breast at the 2006 NCAA Championships, finishing 10th with a time of 56.78. Also at the 2006 NCAA Championships, he placed second in the 200 and 400 Medley Relays and fourth in the 200 Free Relay. Harris also finished seventh in the 200 Breast. At the 2006 ECAC Championships, he placed second in the 200 Free Relay and ninth in the 100 Breast in helping lead Hopkins to the championship.

Harris posted four of the top times for Hopkins in the 100 Breast and two of the three top times in the 200 Breast. In addition, he posted eight top-3 times in individual races and 14 in relay races during the season. Hopkins won the 2006 ECAC Championships and finished fourth at the 2006 NCAA Championships. He is a Dean's List honoree and has a 3.81 GPA while majoring in biology. He will now move on to the national ballot. Voting will be begin May 30 and the ESPN The Magazine All-America Team is scheduled to be released June 15.
