College Park, MD - The Johns Hopkins men's and women's swimming teams each fell at Maryland Friday afternoon, as the Terrapins downed the JHU men, 113-40, and defeated the Blue Jay women, 105-36.

The only event won by either Hopkins team was the women's 300 breaststroke relay, as freshman Jessica Chang (Penfield, NY/Penfield), freshman Kristin Stepaniak (Shoreview, MN/Mounds View), and junior Liz Schlicher (Mountain Lakes, NJ/Mountain Lakes) won the race in 3:31.10. The JHU 300 medley relay team of sophomore Diana Smirnova (Las Cruces, NM/Phillips Exeter Academy), junior Megan Rudinsky (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park), and freshman Sida Liu (Phoenix, AZ/North Canyon) finished second in 3:09.94.

The men had four relay teams finish second in the meet, as the 300 medley relay team of sophomore Brandon Loftus (Milwaukee, WI/Marquette), junior Kyle Robinson (Holden, MA/Wachusett Regional), and freshman Brian Sneed (Chattanooga, TN/McCallie) came in second to Maryland in 2:48.08.

The JHU 300 butterfly relay team of freshman Tyler Harris (Lancaster, OH/Lancaster), senior David Lofthus (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima), and Sneed finished in 2:39.44, the 300 breaststroke relay team of Harris, junior Scott Pitz (Paoli, PA/Conestoga), and freshman Caleb Groff (York, PA/Dallastown) finished in 3:05.23, and 300 backstroke relay Lofthus, freshman Sean Kim (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch), and Robinson finished in 2:43.69.
