Recap

May 25, 2002

JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY

Head Coach Dave Pietramala
"When you've experienced a season with a special group like this, it's tough to see it come to an end. But, these guys have nothing to be ashamed about. In the beginning of the season, we were the third-worst team in Baltimore, 13 games later, we're 12-1 and playing the defending champions in the Final Four."

"We dug ourselves into too big of a hole in the first half, and with the way Princeton plays, it's hard to dig yourself out. But, I'm very proud of this team and what we've accomplished this season."

"We had a great opportunity on the doorstep at the end of the game, but we didn't execute, and you have to be better than that to beat the defending champions."

Nick Murtha, Sr., G
When asked about Princeton's execution during the game. "It was more of what we didn't do than what Princeton did. Our coaches had a great game plan and we just didn't play like we should have. They (Princeton) opened things up in front and put themselves in position for some easy goals. They have great shooters and their offense is very dangerous. They found the corners and shot low and did a great job today."

PRINCETON UNIVERSITY

Head Coach Bill Tierney
"I thank the lord and bless our mother that we were able to beat a great team like John Hopkins. We were able to get out to a big lead, and we were very fortunate to hang on. Julian (Gould) made some great saves, we got some timely goals, and we were grateful to get a win."

(on Adam Donneger) "I know Adam very well and respect him. We wanted to make sure we always had a pole on him - either (Joe) Rosenbaum or (Ricky) Schultz - and we just wanted to do our best to contain him. We felt that if we were going to get beat, we didn't want Adam to get six or seven goals on us. We tried some different things and were fortunate they worked out for us."

B.J. Prager, Sr., A
"The offense played really well and really opened up since March 30. We're not a slow team, we just know when to run and when to slow things down. It's a credit to everyone else on offense when I'm able to have a game like I did today."

Damien Davis, Jr., D
"Our offense was very prepared today. They were patient and moved the ball very well. We also limited their sweeps and opportunities for them to get good shots."

Brad Dumont, Jr., M
"The biggest thing for us today was that we were able to get out to a big lead. We just wanted to play smart and be able to hold it. When the defense had the ball, they just tried to hold it for a while and play with poise."

Julian Gould, Jr., G
"I didn't seen many shots in the first half because the defense played so well. Even though I went a while without a lot of action, I was confident towards the end of the game."
