BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Johns Hopkins football team, currently 6-0 and riding the crest of a school-record 10-game winning streak, is ranked seventh in the first Division III ECAC Lambert Football Poll of the 2003 season. This is the first time Johns Hopkins has ever been ranked in the top 10 in the ECAC Lambert Poll, which recognizes the best teams in the East in Divisions I-A, I-AA, II and III.

Lycoming is ranked first in this week's poll and is followed closely by Washington & Jefferson and Brockport State. Springfield is ranked fourth and The College of New Jersey and Rowan are tied for fifth, just ahead of Hopkins, which accumulated 15 points in the poll. A panel of media members who cover NCAA Division III football represent the voting contingent.

Representation in the ECAC Lambert Poll is the latest in a long line of outstanding accomplishments for the Johns Hopkins football team. The Blue Jays are currently ranked a program-best 19th in the AFCA Division III Poll (new poll to be released Tuesday morning) and the 6-0 start is the best for Hopkins since 1931. The 10-game winning streak is three wins longer than the previous school record and the Blue Jays have won 17 of their last 19 games dating back to the end of the 2001 season.

Johns Hopkins (6-0, 2-0 Centennial Conference) has been listed among schools receiving votes in the ECAC Lambert Poll numerous times since 1995, including last season when the Blue Jays won a school-record nine games en route to a share of the program's first ever Centennial Conference title and the ECAC Southwest Championship.

The Blue Jays will put their 10-game winning streak on the line when they host Gettysburg (4-1, 1-0) on Friday night (October 17) at 7:00 pm at Homewood Field
