BALTIMORE, MD - The honors continue to come in for senior forwards Matt Griffin (Glen Mills, PA/Penncrest) and Danny Nawrocki (Syosset, NY/Chaminade). The pair were named to the inaugural PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland All-Maryland Team this week. Griffin earned first team honors while Nawrocki earned second team honors.

Griffin, a First Team All-Centennial selection and D3Hoops.com Honorable Mention All-American, led the Blue Jays and ranked third in the conference with 16.9 points per game. He shot 64.9 percent from the floor for the season, the fifth best percentage in NCAA Division III. Griffin became the 13th player in school history with 1,000 career points when he scored 29 on January 24 in a win over Gettysburg. A 2007 Josten's Player of the Year finalist, Griffin also earned ESPN The Magazine Third Team Academic All-America honors.

Nawrocki, a three-time All-Centennial selection, finished his career as only the third player in school history with 1,000 points and 700 rebounds. He led Hopkins and the conference and ranked 10th in NCAA Division III with 11.0 rebounds per game. Nawrocki finished his career as the career rebounds (947) and defensive rebounds (687) leader in school history. He also holds the conference record for rebounds. Nawrocki posted 17 double-doubles in 2006-07 and finished his career with 38. He was also named the MVP of both the Blue Jay Invitational and the Provident Pride of Maryland Tournament in 2006-07. About The Pride of Maryland
The Pride of Maryland is comprised of the nine NCAA Division III men's basketball schools in the state. They are Frostburg State University, Goucher College, Hood College, Johns Hopkins University, McDaniel College, Salisbury University, St. Mary's College of Maryland, Villa Julie College and Washington College.

Bill Nelson, men's basketball coach at Johns Hopkins University, and Brett Adams, athletic director and men's basketball coach at Villa Julie College, came up with the idea more than 10 years ago. The tournament is to combine collegiate athletic competition, community involvement, and academic scholarship and recognition. Adams and Nelson felt that the State of Maryland presented a unique opportunity, due to the ideal number of men's Division III teams. In the fall of 2005, Villa Julie College defeated Johns Hopkins University in overtime to win the inaugural title. During Thanksgiving week in 2006, Provident Bank stepped in as title sponsor of the Tournament as Johns Hopkins defeated Salisbury to earn the title "Division III Maryland State Champion."
