Men's Basketball Hosts Dickinson Saturday

Complete Release in PDF Format Johns Hopkins looks to move to 7-1 at Goldfarb Gym this season, when the Blue Jays host Dickinson on Saturday afternoon in a Centennial Conference men's basketball matchup. The Red Devils (4-12, 2-7) and Blue Jays (12-3, 8-1) will meet for the second time this season, as Hopkins rallied for a 68-62 win in Carlisle, Pa. on Dec. 10. Since then, both teams have moved in opposite directions, as Hopkins has gone 6-1, while Dickinson has dropped seven of eight contests. Both teams have met nine times since the 2002 season, with Hopkins taking seven of the nine. Each of the last three games between Dickinson and Hopkins have been decided by less than six points. The Red Devils won at Goldfarb Gym, 67-64, on Dec. 4, 2004, while Hopkins picked up a 58-57 win at the Kline Center on Jan. 22, 2005. Scouting Dickinson Dickinson dropped its fifth game in a row with a 76-59 loss home against Gettysburg on Wednesday, putting the Red Devils in a tie for last place with Franklin & Marshall. Since getting off to a 2-1 start in league play with wins over McDaniel and at F&M, Dickinson has fallen in six straight conference matchups. In Wednesday's game, Gettysburg capitalized on 18 turnovers and 64 percent shooting from the free throw line by the Red Devils, while creating 11 steals and shooting 85 percent from the stripe to claim the win. The Red Devils are paced on the offensive end by a pair of double-digit scorers, Matt Keys and Brad Litchfield. Keys is scoring 10.8 points per contest, averaging 26.3 minutes. Against Gettysburg, Keys scored 14, including 4-of-4 shooting at the foul line, while chipping in five assists. Litchfield is netting 10.1 per game, connecting on 77.3 percent of his attempts from the free throw line. Litchfield scored a team-high 15 points against the Bullets, logging 35 minutes.
Notes on the Blue Jays
Matt Griffin was named Centennial Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career on Monday. Griffin set career highs the previous week, scoring 27 points at Haverford on Jan. 10 and pulling in 10 rebounds against Ursinus on Jan. 12. Griffin recorded his first career double-double against the Bears, adding 20 points. |
