BALTIMORE, MD - Senior co-captain Paul Winterling (Glenelg, MD/McDonogh) was named a preseason First Team All American as announced by Basebeall America recently. Paul is the only player from a Centennial Conference team selected, and one of only four players selected from the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Winterling will start in center field for the Blue Jays this year for the third consecutive season. In addition to being selected to the Centennial Conference's First Team in 2003 and 2004, Winterling was chosen as the Centennial Conference Player of the Year in 2003. In 2004, Wintering was named a First Team Mid-Atlantic Region selection for the second consecutive season. Additionally, in 2003, Wintering was a First Team All Mid-Atlantic Region selection, and was named to the Mid-Atlantic Regional All-Tournament Team for his efforts.

Winterling has belted 23 career home runs, good for third place all time at Hopkins, and has driven in 108 runs, good for 11th.. He sports a career .366 batting average, and is 46-of-48 in stolen base attempts in his three-year career. Winterling is the only Blue Jay to ever hit at least 10 home runs in two different seasons, a feat that he will try to repeat in 2005.

Earlier this winter, Winterling, and a number of other Blue Jays were listed as "Players to Watch" by Collegiate Baseball, in its preseason edition.

The Profs of Rowan, who defeated the Blue Jays in the finals of the Mid-Atlantic Regional last year, had three players named to the All American Team, the most of any school. No other school had more than one representative.

The Blue Jays will open the season on March 4 when they host the Falcons of Messiah at 2 pm.
