JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State University men's basketball team dropped its home opener 61-49 to the Southeastern Louisiana Lions. JSU falls to a 1-6 overall record and Southeaster improves to 5-1. Grant Maxey and Jeremy Caldwell were the only two Tigers to reach double figure scoring. Maxey finished with 16 points and Caldwell scored 12. Patrick Sullivan and Tavaris Nance each scored 12 points to lead Southeastern. Warrell Span added 10 points. For the game JSU shot 32 percent from the field and 66 percent from the free throw line. The Lions shot at a 47 percent rate from the field and 61 percent from the line. Southeastern out rebounded the Tigers 42-28. Jackson State will return to action on Dec. 1 when the Tigers host Stephen F. Austin in non-conference action. Tip-off is set for 4 pm. |
