Mike Fruchey enters his sixth season as the Head Women's Track and Field Coach at IPFW. Prior to his appointment as head coach, he had been an assistant coach with the program since its inception in 2000, specializing in the middle distance and distance events. During his time at IPFW, the women's squad has improved steadily and this past spring competed in their first Summit League Indoor and Outdoor Championships finishing in 6th place at both meets. The 2008 season also saw eight school records broken and the first two IPFW women's track athletes to qualify and compete in the NCAA Mideast Track and Field Regional. Coach Fruchey holds a Master's degree in Physics from Ball State University and a Bachelor's degree in Physics from Taylor University. He also has attained USA Track and Field Level II Coaching Certifications in Endurance, Jumps, Throws, and Sprints/Hurdles/Relays. In addition, Coach Fruchey is certified as a USATF Level 1 Instructor. |
