IUP head coach Lou Tepper has announced the signing of 16 players for the 2008 season, a group that includes local product Jerad Peles from Penns Manor High School. The recruiting class all hail from the state of Pennsylvania, a departure from the past two seasons when IUP brought in a total of eight freshman from Ohio. IUP's focus was on the front seven on defense and the offensive line. The Crimson Hawks lost three starters from the 2007 starting offensive line. Of the 14 players on the depth chart on the defensive front seven last year, one was a senior and seven more will be seniors this season. IUP added nine defensive linemen and linebackers and three offensive linemen so far during the recruiting season. The Crimson Hawks also brought in five transfers in the spring semester, including 6-3, 280-pound offensive lineman Antoine Taylor from Citrus (Calif.) Junior College to bolster the blocking corps.
