Graduate Assistant Lauren Connolly enters her first year on the Illinois State swimming and diving staff. Connolly is a native of St. Petersburg, Fla., where she swam and later coached for St. Petersburg Aquatics. She arrived at ISU from South Florida, where she earned her bachelor's in communications.
While attending South Florida, Connolly spent a semester abroad at Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia. Prior to attending USF, Connolly swam at Youngstown State.
For the past two summers, Connolly has worked at the University of Texas Longhorns' Swim Camp as a counselor/coach, where she had the opportunity to work with multiple Olympians and Olympic coaches.
Head coach Steve Paska was eager for Connolly to join the staff.
"Lauren has the passion and excitement to be here," Paska said. "She knows what it takes and will bring energy to the team to get the most out of the swimmers. Her love of swimming will rub off on the girls and she will instill values of honesty, work ethic and enthusiasm for the sport."
Connolly will pursue her master's degree in sport management. As a competitor, she swam mostly middle distance and distance freestyle, and she continues to swim at the master's level.
