Epps in Fifth Place after Day One at EIU's Big Blue Classic

The women's heptathalon will conclude Tuesday.

CHARLESTON, Ill. - Junior Frannie Epps finished the first day of competition in the women's heptathalon in fifth place at the Big Blue Classic Thursday in Charleston, Ill. Epps ended the day with 2,662 points at O'Brien Stadium and is only one point away from fourth place.

Ball State's Lenae Stovall leads the event after day one with a total of 2,806 points. Freshman Morgan Schaefer also competed in the first day of the heptathalon, finishing the day in 10th place with a total of 2,184 points.

The Heptathalon concludes tomorrow beginning with the long jump at 10:30 a.m. Members of the Redbird men's and women's distance squads will be competing in their respective 10,000-meter runs on Friday as well.
