Jan. 27, 2005 Chicago, Ill.- On Thursday the Horizon League announced that University of Illinois at Chicago cross country student-athletes Mikhail Davidyan (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) and Lisa Petty (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township) have been selected to the 2004 Fall Academic All-Horizon League team. Davidyan, one of the team's leading runners this past season and UIC's top finisher at the Horizon League Championships, continued his equally-outstanding performance in the classroom with a 3.74 grade point average (G.P.A.) on a 4.0 scale as a finance major. Petty showed great balance as well as one of the Flames' top two runners all season long and as a great student this past fall. The second-year distance specialist notched a 3.73 G.P.A. in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The Fall Academic All-Horizon League Teams are selected by the Horizon League Sports Information Directors and Faculty Athletic Representatives. Nominees must meet the following criteria:1) a cumulative grade point average (G.P.A.) of 3.25 or better on a 4.00 scale; 2) have completed at least three semesters at the same institution; and 3) be a starter or significant contributor in a League-sponsored sport. The team is comprised of the same number of first team All-Horizon League student-athletes in each sport. Ties are not broken.
