Champaign, Ill. - Senior Laura Macias highlighted the UIC women's cross country team's evening at the Illini Challenge on Friday at the U of I Arboretum, taking second place in the 5K race with a time of 18:13.

The Flames finished in fourth place in the four-team meet, totaling 81 points. Host Illinois took the title with 29 points, followed by Illinois State (45) and UW-Milwaukee (71).

Senior Korinne Krych (19th/20:23) and junior Kerry Brennan (22nd/20:53) also notched strong performances for UIC.

The Flames will be back in action on September 30 when they head up Lake Shore Drive to compete in the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational hosted by Loyola.
