Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago women's tennis stalwart Nicole Derouin was selected as the Horizon League Player of the Week, it was announced today.

The junior from Moline, Ill. was as perfect as the Flames, going 4-0 as UIC blanked league foes UW-Green Bay and UW-Milwaukee on Saturday in Green Bay.

Derouin teamed with Ayca Gumuscu to win a pair of No.1 doubles matches by a combined score of 16-2. She was also perfect in singes play, beating Lianna Dorn of UWGB, 7-6(3), 6-4, and Tammie Spiel of UW-Milwaukee, 6-2, 6-1 in the No.1 singles slot.

Derouin's appointment as player of the week marks the second time in three weeks a UIC athlete has grabbed the honor.

Two weeks ago Britta Dohmann claimed the honor for UIC after an impressive week of play in Idaho.

The Flames will host Youngstown State on Sunday at the UIC outdoor courts behind the Physical Education Building. First serve is set for 10:00 AM.
