Chicago, Ill.- University of Illinois at Chicago junior Callan Smith (Leawood, Kan./Pembroke Hill) was named the Horizon League Women's Tennis Player of the Week for the period ending Feb. 27, the league office announced on Monday.

Smith picked up two straight-set singles wins at the No. 2 spot against Horizon League foes over the weekend, along with two doubles wins with teammate Corey Steven.

Smith defeated UW-Milwaukee's Traci Litscher by a 6-1, 6-1 mark on Saturday. She followed that up with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over UW-Green Bay's Jennifer Tan on Sunday.

UIC returns to action against Iowa State in Des Moines, Iowa, on Friday.
