Hashoian Takes Down Another School Record Friday Night

Chicago, Ill. - Freshman Kelly Hashoian claimed her second school record in the young season when she broke the 1650-yard freestyle event at the UIC Natatorium this evening aginst Horizon League foes Milwaukee and Butler and Division II powerhouse North Dakota. The men's squad swept the double dual meet, with victories over Milwaukee (166 to 132) and The Fighting Sioux in 161-138. The women's team beat Butler with a score of 209 to 75, and barely lost to North Dakota, 149-146. For the second home meet in a row, Hashoian has broken a long-distance freestyle school record. Hashoian took down the record, formerly 17:37.59 set by Jamie Redway in 2001, to 17:37.59. Andrea Giczewski took top honors in the 50 (24.18) and the 100 (52.65) free events. Not to be outdone by his female captain counterpart, senior Dan Hare claimed the 100 (47.31) and 200 free (1:44.60) and anchored the victorious 400 free relay. Evan Dunn remains undefeated in an IM event throughout the season, taking the 400IM in 4:07.44, as well as the 200 breaststroke in 2:10.33, outdistancing his nearest competitor by over two seconds. Freshmen Brooke Sawyer (58.65) and Steve Yemm (50.97) took first in the 100 fly. The Flames next take to the pool in Saint Louis to face the Bilikns on November 17 at 2:30 p.m.
