Softball Squares Off Against Western Illinois In Doubleheader At Flames Field May 2, 2007
UIC Softball Game Notes in PDF Format Chicago, Ill. - UIC softball will celebrate Senior Night on Thursday, May 3 when they face Western Illinois in a doubleheader at Flames Field. The first pitch is slated for a 6:00 p.m. start and seniors Liz Jacoby and Becky Moran will be honored prior to game one. Moran will also be singing the National Anthem. This marks the 13th matchup between the Flames and Westerwinds. UIC leads the series, 8-4. UIC (16-29) battles Western Illinois in its final two regular-season home contests before wrapping up league play at Wright State this weekend. The Flames are coming off a 9-2 loss to No. 11/15 DePaul at Cacciatore Stadium on Tuesday, May 1. UIC freshman Brooke Frydendall led the squad with a .500 batting average. Frydendall was 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI. Jacoby was 1-for-3 with one run and junior Mallory Studzinski notched a hit and her second RBI on the season against the Blue Demons. Western Illinois (18-21) enters the doubleheader after falling to Big Ten Iowa, 5-1, on April 29. Britt Mason paced the team with a .666 batting average (2-for-3) and one RBI. Amy Douglas was 2-for-2 and Nicole Green tabbed one hit against the Hawkeyes.
UIC concludes regular-season action this weekend when they square off against Wright State in a three-game series in Dayton, Ohio, May 5-6.
