Chicago, Ill. - University of Illinois at Chicago Head Women's Basketball Coach Tim Eatman announced his resignation after four seasons in the position.

Eatman failed to produce a winning season in his four seasons as head coach, compiling a 44-71 (.382) career record. The Flames owned a 22-32 league record under his guidance and finished seventh in the Horizon League with a 6-10 mark this season.

"We want to wish Tim Eatman the best as he pursues other opportunities," UIC Athletic Director Jim Schmidt said. "He has moved the program forward and there is a solid foundation of players to build on for the future.

"Our goals remain intact," Schmidt continued. "UIC will be much more competitive in the Horizon League and strive to participate regularly in NCAA Tournament play.

"We are determined to provide the best environment possible for our student athletes to succeed on and off the court."

Eatman, who was the ninth coach in UIC history, was hired on May 6, 1998 and came to the university after serving as an assistant coach at Iowa and Kansas.

UIC will now begin a national search to find a new head coach to lead the Flames' program.
