Track And Field Competes At Cougar Invite
May 1, 2006 River Forest, Ill. - The UIC track and field team might have only sent a small group of performers to compete at the Cougar Invitational on Saturday at Concordia University, but the Flames but up big results, capturing four individual event titles. Senior Sara O'Mara led the way for UIC by winning the shot put (12.31m), discus (36.88m) and hammer throw (50.14m). All three distances were season bests for O'Mara, who shattered her own school record in the hammer throw by over 1.5 meters. Junior Sarah Morrison gave the Flames their other top finish by winning the triple jump with a personal best leap of 10.53m. On the men's side, Anthony LaVine placed second in the long jump (6.62m) while Erik Hernandez also notched a second place finish win the shot put (14.41m).
