Chicago, Ill. - UIC sophomore Mike Savegnago was recognized on Wednesday as the Horizon League's Men's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the period ending Feb. 11.

Savegnago highlighted the Flames' efforts at the Dick Pond Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 10), winning the high jump while placing second in the pole vault.

The Winfield, Ill., native cleared 1.93m en route to his title in the high jump. He then went over the bar at 4.58m for runner-up honors in the pole vault.

Savegnago is the first UIC track and field student-athlete to take home player of the week accolades this season.

The Flames will be back in action on Friday evening at the UWM Tune-up in Milwaukee, Wis.
