Iowa City, Iowa- The UIC men's cross country team gave Head Coach Jim Knoedel a nice homecoming at the NCAA Midwest Regionals on Saturday, collecting a 10th-place team finish at Knoedel's old stomping grounds at the University of Iowa.

The Flames placed 10th out of 20 teams, using a team-leading 10,000-meter performance from sophomore Joseph Mbari (34th/32:13) and Top 80 finishes by four other UIC runners in the 150-competitor race filled with the region's finest.

Also pacing the Flames outstanding showing was senior Mikhail Davidyan, who placed 55th overall with a 32:47 in his final collegiate cross country race after four seasons of consistent performances for UIC.

Juniors Sam Watson (68th/33:05) and Jim Sulzberger (73rd/33:11) followed, with sophomore Jorge Flores running a 33:22 to finish 80th. First-year runner Alex Sutphen followed with a mark of 34:25.

Senior Bob Dron rounded out the Flames' day with a 34:59.
