Knoxville, Tenn. - The UIC track and field team concluded its 2006 campaign this weekend at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships with three individuals and one relay team competing at Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium on the campus of the University of Tennessee.

Senior Nick Gazis gave the Flames their best finish at the event, placing 14th in the discus with a toss of 52.91m.

Junior Trent Thompson posted a time of 50.21 in the 400-meter dash and did not qualify for the finals. UIC's 4x100 relay team, which Thompson was also a part of, clocked in at 42.05.

Sophomore Idara Essien, the lone women's team member competing, fouled on all three of her attempts in the triple jump.
