Naperville, Ill. - The UIC men's and women's track and field team had handful of performers competing over the weekend at the `Last Chance Meet' hosted by North Central College.

The event was a last chance for individuals to post qualifying marks for NCAA Regional and Championship participation.

Senior Nick Gazis, who has already qualified for the NCAA Regional meet, placed third in the discus with a toss of 50.56m.

Sophomore Idara Essien took second in the triple jump with a leap of 11.81m.

Senior Justin Malec took seventh in the 100-meter dash (11.36) while placing ninth in the 200-meter race in 22.77

The NCAA Midwest Regional Championship meet will be held this weekend in Knoxville, Tenn.
