Romeoville, Ill. - Junior sprinter Gabe Rivera and sophomore pole vaulter Jeff Simpson each took home third-place finishes to help pace the University of Illinois at Chicago men's track and field squad at the Lewis Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Rivera finished third in the 55-meter dash (6.61), while Simpson earned the bronze medal in the pole vault (12'1 ¾").

The Flames also received fourth-place finishes from Pat Redden (43'9 ¾", weight throw), Nick Gazis (43'9 ¾") and Jim Sulzberger (15:43.03, 5,000-meter run).

UIC will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, as they will head north to participate in the UW-Milwaukee quadrangular at 11:00 a.m.
