Chicago, Ill.- University of Illinois at Chicago freshman Artsem Burmistrau was named the Horizon League Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week, the league officially announced on Friday morning.

Burmistrau, a native of Minsk, Belarus, put up a dominating performance against Wayne State's Miguel Cobbs on February 7th. Playing through illness, Burmistrau controlled the match throughout and took a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Cobbs at the No. 1 singles slot.

The freshman also contributed to the only doubles win of the meet for UIC, teaming with John Cincola to overtake Cobbs and Rohan Singh in a hard-fought 8-6 victory.

Burmistrau remains perfect in No. 1 singles play this season, winning all three matches he has played.

The Flames return to action on February 20th against Southern Methodist University at the Oak Brook Racket Courts starting at 8 p.m.
