Men's Tennis Splits Two On Final Day Of Louisville Invitational

Louisville, Ky.- The UIC men's tennis team finished play at the Louisville Invitational on Sunday, splitting two singles matches at the University of Louisville's Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. Karol Zarucki defeated teammate Yevgen Ryeznik in the Flight "A" consolation bracket finals, 8-5. After losing his first match on Friday, Zarucki swept through the bracket with four straight victories over the past two days. Newcomer Sean Kreymborg was also in action on Sunday, facing Southern Illinois' Lukasz Soswa in the Flight "C" consolation finals. Soswa defeated Kreymborg for an 8-3 win. The Flames finished the event with a 17-13 combined record overall. UIC went 15-9 in singles play and took two out of six in doubles action. Zarucki led the team with four singles match wins in his consolation bracket, while sophomore Pat Zufan advanced the furthest into the tournament by advancing to the Flight "C" quarterfinals. Team scores were not kept during the weekend activities. The UIC men's tennis team will return to action on Wednesday, October 8th to take on Chicago State University at the CSU campus in Chicago, Ill., at 3 p.m. |
