Chicago, Ill.- The UIC men's tennis team extended its season-best winning streak to five matches on Monday, defeating host Chicago State by a 6-1 count at Tuley Park.

UIC (11-7) has now won six of its last seven dual matches, taking 39 of 42 possible points in the six victories.

Ivan Kovalev chalked up his ninth win in his last ten matches at No. 1 singles, including five in a row, with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Prabowo Imanuel.

Freshman Eric Fey continued to be a force at the heart of the lineup, even when the shortest Flame faced a tall task in opponent Arthur Talley, who also plays on the Chicago State basketball team. The powerful 5-foot-7 rookie easily took the No. 5 singles bout over the 6-foot-3 Talley by a 6-0, 6-0 score.

Fey has won six of his last seven singles matches.

Paul Glendenning and Andy Lockhart did their part in securing the team win with straight-set singles victories.

UIC is back in action this Friday when the Flames head to Green Bay, Wis. to face Horizon League rival UW-Green Bay at 2 p.m.
