Men's Tennis Takes Third In A Row With Win Over Indianapolis
March 22, 2004 Indianapolis, Ind.- The University of Illinois at Chicago men's tennis team captured their third consecutive win on Saturday, downing the University of Indianapolis by a 4-3 count at the West Indianapolis Raquet Courts. The Flames (4-8) swept the doubles point for the second week in a row while taking three of six singles contests. UIC was led by Karol Zarucki, who downed Felipe Rojas at No. 2 singles with a 7-6, 6-2 win. Zarucki teamed with Artsem Burmistrau to take out Ross Johnson and Dustin Guthrie in doubles action, 8-3. Burmistrau had his five-match singles winning streak snapped by Johnson at No. 1 singles, dropping a bacvk-and-forth 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 battle. Paul Glendenning and Pat Zufan got in on the action with a singles and doubles win apiece. Glendenning won his third in a row by downing Justin Linder, while Zufan has now won three of his last four with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Guthrie. Both Yevgen Ryeznik and John Cincola were narrowly defeated in tight three-set singles contests.
UIC is back in action on Sunday at Southern Illinois.
