Auburn, Ala.- UIC sprint freestylers Blake Booher and LeRoy Stevens capped off their first taste of the U.S. Open on Thursday in spectacular fashion, as both Booher and Stevens moved on to finals competition in the 50-meter freestyle.

Booher took ninth in the preliminary heat with a time of 24.03, qualifying for the `B' finals.

Stevens swam a 24.23 to finish 17th overall, earning a spot in the `C' finals.

The 2005 U.S. Open continues later today at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Ala.
