Chicago, Ill.- For the fourth consecutive semester, the UIC men's and women's swimming and diving teams received Academic All-America recognition from the College Swim Coaches Association of America this week for their performance in the classroom during the Fall 2005 semester.

The UIC women's swimming and diving squad posted a team grade point average of 3.09 on a 4.0 scale.

UIC's men's swimming and diving team turned in a team GPA of 2.94 on a 4.0 scale.

"We are extremely proud to compete at a high level and achieve academic success at the same time," said UIC head coach Paul Moniak. "To have our [large] squad size and attain a 'B' average is a testament to our hard working student-athletes."

This marks the sixth time that UIC swimming and diving has earned the Academic All-America distinction under Moniak's five-year tenure.

The UIC men's swimming and diving team earned third place at the Horizon League Championships for the second consecutive season in 2006, while the women's team finished fourth.
