Green Bay, Wisc. - The Midwestern Collegiate Conference slate began for the UIC Swimming and Diving team on Saturday and not in winning fashion.

The men's team fell 127-95 to UW-Green Bay while on the women's side the Phoenix - last year's MCC champions - downed the Flames 136-97.

"It was a tough weekend," Interim Head Coach Ina Harizanova said. "We had a home meet on Friday night that lasted until 10 PM. We had about six hours of sleep and a four hour bus ride up to UWGB. We couldn't expect to swim our best.

"The good thing is that we have seven weeks of conference," Harizanova continued. "They have been swimming strong and will continue to improve their times."

The Flames were strong in the diving events as Andrea Bove and Charlie Rock both swept the 1 and 3-meter events. Bove scored a 197.85 on the 1-meter and a 214.65 on the three-meter. Rock earned a 240.55 on the 1-meter board and a 251.95 on the 3-meter board.

On the swimming side, freshman Jamie Redway was the lone winner for the women's side with a victory in the 1000 freestyle (10:51.42). The men received victories from sophomore Tom Schwingen in the 100 freestyle (47.64) and senior Diego Lora Coronado in the 200 breaststroke (2:06.60). Lora Coronado's victory also set a new pool record at UW-Green Bay.
